Who Owns Psycho Bunny?

Psycho Bunny is a menswear clothing company based in Montreal, Canada. The company was founded in 2005 by Robert Godley and Robert Goldman. Its diverse collections include polo tees, T-shirts, fleece sweats, French terry, outerwear, swim trunks, elevated trousers, and accessories with a maniacal rabbit logo.

In Dec 2023, Psycho Bunny opened four stores in Canada, bringing the count in the country to eight. The Canadian retail rollout was similar to the company’s US expansion strategy. Psycho Bunny operated 76 US stores as of Dec 2023. [1]

Psycho Bunny started as a tie label in New York before evolving into a premium menswear brand. As a Canadian company, Psycho Bunny seeks to leverage its home country to expand its customer base and catalyze sustainable growth.

In Jan 2024, Psycho Bunny and Tennis Canada announced a new three-year partnership to cultivate local talent. The label is now the official athletic apparel sponsor of all Canadian tennis teams, including juniors, pros, masters, and wheelchair players.

It will create a lifestyle collection for Team Canada players for the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and National Bank Open events. [2]

Psycho Bunny is known for its playful designs, vibrant collections, and high-quality products. The brand has invested in improving the buyer experience online and in-store channels.

In 2023, Psycho Bunny selected Deposco to integrate its fragmented fulfillment system and enhance omnichannel capabilities.

Deposco deployed its Bright Suite omnichannel platform across 60 Psycho Bunny stores in 6 months, merging online and in-store sales channels. The upgrade reduced the processing time, allowing Psycho Bunny to ship more orders during the peak holiday season. [3]

Psycho Bunny is a fast-growing men-focused fashion brand.

The company adopts innovative strategies to encourage its customers to prioritize their well-being. The fashion brand partnered with Head Up Guys in May 2023, to promote mental health awareness as well as self-care tactics for men. The campaign challenged traditional “dad” stereotypes and provided a new trend polo collection and support materials and resources for fathers. But who owns Psycho Bunny? [4]

Who is Psycho Bunny’s Owner?

Alen Brandman owns Psycho Bunny. The owner is the CEO of Montreal-based Thread Collective and a former outerwear licensee for Psycho Bunny. In 2021, Brandman acquired Psycho Bunny from Robert Godley.

The deal transferred Psycho Bunny’s ownership to Brandman, with Thread Collective as the parent company. In Jan 2023, the brand launched 50 unique hero bunny NFTs after collaborating with street artist Buff Monster. The NFTs reinforce Psycho Bunny’s mission to inspire self-expression. [5]

Thread Collective started as a children’s denim manufacturer before branching into apparel production under license for Bebe, Hurley, Ellen Tracy, and Pajar. The company’s experience can help Psycho Bunny expand its market reach.

In 2023, Thread Collective invested in frictionless commerce tech and intelligent cloud services to improve Psycho Bunny’s supply chain. Psycho Bunny worked with Pivotree to enhance data and app integration and API management between cloud and local applications. This digital transformation initiative will fuel Psycho Bunny’s expansion. [6]

Psycho Bunny is a fast-growing global fashion retailer. The company has a strong e-commerce presence and retail stores across the US, Japan, Mexico, and Canada.

In Sep 2023, the brand entered the Middle East after opening a store at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, UAE. Psycho Bunny plans to hasten its global expansion by launching new outlets in economic hubs worldwide. [7]

Although its roots are in North America, the brand is amassing a cult-like following among Japanese golfers thanks to its attention to detail. Psycho Bunny has 18 dedicated locations for golf enthusiasts in Japan.

In May 2023, Psycho Bunny brought its prized Japan-exclusive products to US customers. The collection includes golf accessories like caddy bags, head covers, gloves, umbrellas, and ball markers. [8]

Psycho Bunny Ownership History

Robert Godley and Robert Goldman founded Psycho Bunny to deliver the perfect polo. The two co-founders are the original Psycho Bunny owners. Godley previously worked at Drake’s of London and Turnbull & Asser, while Goldman was a neckwear industry manufacturer.

They partnered to build the Psycho Bunny brand and opened dozens of stores. In 2013, the company experienced operational issues and internal struggles. The founders turned to their outerwear licensee, Alen Brandman, for help.

Brandman joined Psycho Bunny and took over all production in 2016, becoming the third equity partner alongside Godley and Goldman. In 2017, Brandman purchased 100% of the operating rights and 50% of the intellectual property rights of Psycho Bunny.

The brand worked with Thread Collective employees to expand beyond its signature polo shirts. The collaboration delivered golf apparel, swimwear, casual shirts, shorts, underwear, loungewear, fleece, and accessories. In 2021, Brandman acquired full ownership of Psycho Bunny. [9]

Godley and Goldman exited the business in 2021, handing over ownership to Brandman and Thread Collective. Psycho Bunny expanded under Brandman and added 130 people to work exclusively on the brand and 500 in the field.

The company tripled its business and opened 20 US stores. In May 2022, Psycho Bunny launched four stores in Canada and a localized Canadian website. The brand had 29 US locations in its pipeline for 2022, increasing the total to 62. [10]

Brandman formed a leadership group in 2022 with private investment firm BBRC, led by Brett Blundy and Bertrand Cesvet. Brett and Bertrand became Brandman’s partners and minority shareholders in Psycho Bunny.

In July 2022, Sportmex opened two new Psycho Bunny stores in Mexico. The company has over 50 shops outside North America through a licensing deal with Itochu in Japan and a franchise partner in Latin America. Brandman plans to operate stores directly rather than through franchises, with Europe on his wish list. [11]

Psycho Bunny Shareholder Structure

Psycho Bunny is a private company specializing in menswear. Alen Brandman acquired the brand in 2021 from founders Godley and Goldman. With the deal, Thread Collective became Psycho Bunny’s parent company.

It is Thread Collective’s only owned brand. In early 2022, Brandman brought private investment firm BBRC on board as a minority partner. BBRC retail exec Brett Blundy and former Sid Lee CEO and Chairman Bertrand Cesvet have a stake in Psycho Bunny. [12]

Alen Brandman is Psycho Bunny’s global CEO. Brett is a billionaire Australian businessman who leveraged his operational excellence to make a fortune in retail.

These qualities enticed Brandman to add him to the team. Bertrand is a product specialist and counsels Brandman on the brand’s global expansion. As of 2023, Brandman was Psycho Bunny’s majority shareholder, with Brett and Bertrand as minority partners. [13]
